Homologation in European Countries – Part 2
Introduction
In this chapter, we will continue to explore the specificities of homologation in European countries ( You can find more information there : Euro-certificat.com) .
. This time, we will focus on countries outside of the European Economic Community (EEC). We will take a look at the homologation requirements in countries such as Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland.
Subtitle 1: Homologation in Norway
Norway is a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) but not a member of the European Union (EU). Despite this, the country has chosen to adopt many of the EU’s homologation requirements. This includes requirements for vehicle safety, environmental protection, and consumer protection.
One important requirement in Norway is the approval of vehicles for use on public roads. This approval is given by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA). The NPRA uses a set of guidelines and standards set by the EU to determine the approval of vehicles.
Subtitle 2: Homologation in Switzerland
Switzerland is another country that is a member of EFTA but not the EU. Like Norway, Switzerland has chosen to adopt many of the EU’s homologation requirements. This includes requirements for vehicle safety, environmental protection, and consumer protection.
In Switzerland, the approval of vehicles for use on public roads is given by the Swiss Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). The FEDRO uses a set of guidelines and standards set by the EU to determine the approval of vehicles.
Subtitle 3: Homologation in Iceland
Iceland is a member of EFTA and has also chosen to adopt many of the EU’s homologation requirements. This includes requirements for vehicle safety, environmental protection, and consumer protection.
In Iceland, the approval of vehicles for use on public roads is given by the Icelandic Transport Authority (ITA). The ITA uses a set of guidelines and standards set by the EU to determine the approval of vehicles.

In this chapter, we have explored the specificities of homologation in countries outside of the European Economic Community (EEC). We have seen that countries such as Norway, Switzerland, and Iceland have chosen to adopt many of the EU’s homologation requirements despite not being members of the EU.
